Natural law ethic is commonly thought to be the moral theory that influenced the American Founders. However, though it is often overlooked, Scottish Moral Sense/Sentimentalist ethical theory was also influential to key Founders. In this paper, analyze and discuss common tenets of Moral Sense Theory. The paper must include at least 1 Christian and 1 secular philosopher from the current module/week. Include your explanation of each philosopher’s answer to the question, “Why be moral?” In addition, briefly contrast the rationalist Immanuel Kant’s ethical theory with moral sense.
