In this first chapter, we are introduced to Juvenile Correctional Facilities and some of its characteristics. In the PowerPoint slides, there is a statement that says probation is the most common sanction for juveniles, yet some are placed in community placements and some in institutional placements. Based on your reading, please develop a well-reasoned discussion, supported by the course materials and textbooks, that explains some of the factors for the decisions regarding placement. What factors would be important to you and why?
